Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 1996
Eighteenth in the series by Downe Burns. A great, fun and colorful painting by Burns resulted in a popular favorite among collectors. Characterized by Burns' bright palette and utilizing his signature cowboy icon, this seemingly naive image is actually quite sophisticated. The textures and colors reveal a debt to the Fauvres, who paved the way for twentieth century art. The clean lettering around the image contrasts nicely with the humanistic artwork and echoes its core colors.
