Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 1990: A ProCreations® Poster
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 1990: A ProCreations® Poster
1990
by Hugh Ricks
Twelfth in the series by Hugh Ricks. Normally, an artist contributes a single poster to a series; on occasion, two. But when Ricks showed the publisher his idea for a pastel rendering of the "Dawn Patrol" (the first balloons launched to test atmospheric conditions), he got the nod for the third time. Joining the 1979 and 1986 posters in the pantheon of great images, this print achieves the rare distinction of making a perfect transition from artist's easel to print. The silk-screen technique so vividly captures the texture of the original pastel drawing, that viewers were afraid to touch the print for fear it would smudge!
