Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 1984
by Tore Wallin
Sixth in the series by Tore Wallin. This is the first horizontally formatted image created for the Fiesta, a fitting format for this incredibly panoramic event, but a non-traditional approach for a poster. This print also marks the first time a "mixed media" approach was tried. In this case the central image is primarily an original plate-by-plate lithograph overlaid with silk-screen inks which also create the border and lettering. This complicated production, involving two printers working eight hundred miles apart, was used to capture the painterly richness of the image.
